Lumino (Illuminator)
First inspired by minimalism, the design started off from two dimensional curvilinear lines to a three dimensional object. The design also incorporates the use of negative spaces, giving it a clean and lightweight visual appearance.
Material’s significance:
The design retains the integrity of what nature provides. Every single tree grows in a different environment and each of them has their own unique character and type of grain patterns. Thus providing the individuality and flexibility in achieving the desired form.
Functionality:
The design functions as an illuminator which provides an atmospheric glow instead of an intense light source. As a design which follows the trait of minimalism, everything was kept to the minimal, including the light source. This is a design which includes both the idea of “Function follows Form” & “Form follows Functions”
Uniqueness:
The design was kept simple and minimal to preserve its subtle appearance in the darkness. The light illuminates through the gaps, giving it a subtle ambient glow that suggests the edge of the structure. The electronic compartment was also minimally designed and almost hidden within the structure itself to maintain the integrity of the form.
